Shading & Drapery Design

Window coverings expert, Amber Shrewsbury, has been in the business of shades since 2006. She made her start in the Home Decorating department at JCPenney, selling custom window coverings. From there she moved to working in the drapery workroom at Design Resources. This is where she honed in on her ability to work with residential architects and designers, offering them best shading and drapery solutions for their projects.

In 2015 she found her way to the Bell & McCoy Integrated Solutions team, and continued to use her expertise in automated shades and drapery to help dealers understand everything from the specs to the installation process. Whether it means going on job walks, meeting with architects and builders, or breaking down the quoting process, Amber is the person to talk to about window coverings!

Process

Every project begins with “the vision.” During this stage of the process, Amber focuses on asking stylistic and logistical questions, and taking measurements. She will set up a meeting with the homeowner, dealer, and design team to discuss the goals for the project space. Based on this discussion, Amber is able to determine the feasibility of the project and decide which products would work best in terms of desired aesthetic and functionality.

Once she has all of the information needed, she then comes up with a design plan using the products she believes will best achieve the desired outcome. She then presents this, and the product pricing to the project’s dealer, who offers it to the homeowner for approval and implementation.
